The other night while the boys were at basketball practice, Oaklyn and I watched our first EVER chick flick,
Cinderella
And as I watched her there snuggling right next to me,
I felt like all my dreams were coming true.
I looked down at this energy packed, pint sized princess laying beside me, and I thought
the message of this movie pretty much sums up what I want for my one and only Daughter.
"Have courage and be kind"
I hope she has courage to do what's right, even when it is unpopular in the world today.
And I hope with all my heart that she can treat everyone she meets with kindness, love and respect, even if she disagrees with them.
And I hope she looks for those who are struggling and going through a hard time, and follows the feelings she gets to lift them up and give comfort.
Mostly, my desire is for her to never forget who she is, and that she and everyone around her are God's children.
Oaklyn, you are a joy.
Here are some of the things I LOVE about having a girl:
Dollies!
Although about a year ago, you lifted up one of the boy's toys, an action figure man or something, and said, "dolly"
and I wondered where we had gone wrong:)
How you automatically pose for a picture
all on your own.
And how you naturally gravitate toward all things girly, like red lipstick.
You beg me to wear it almost everyday, but because I don't want you to grow up too fast, we save it for
a handful of Valentine's kisses to send out to family.
Never lose your determination, spunk, and sweetness.
Love you!
