Summer Time

In the Summer we like to do an activity each day so we have something fun to look forward to.
We break up the week like this:

Make-it Monday
We made a craft or a special treat.

Bread cones

Fro-Yo Bites

Rainbow Slime:

Elephant Toothpaste Explosions

After the 4th of July, they made their own floats, had a parade and threw out candy.

Q-tip Painting

 marble painting

Time To Read Tuesday:
I don't have any pictures of this one for some reason, but we visited the library each Tuesday and participated in their awesome Summer reading program.

Wet Wednesdays:
We did water activities.
Splash Pad

Car Wash

Water Balloon Fights

A lot of parks in Ohio have free wading pools

Paxton hung out with toys in the pack-n-play and was very content to play with his toys.
Easton said, "Look Mom, PAX-n-play!"
I thought it was clever:)

Thoughtful Thursdays:
We wrote letters to family, made dinner for people, dropped off treats to friend's houses, and many other ideas the kids came up with to serve people this summer.
Sometimes the kids did something simple like pick me some cute flowers to put on the dinner table.

Friend Friday:
We had play dates, and park dates with friends each Friday.
We visited Kirtland with some good friends.

Park Date

We have a tradition one of the last Fridays of the summer, we invite neighbors over for a backyard drive in movie.
There is a concession stand.

We went to fun community events:

I am in primary in our ward, and it is one of the things the kids love to play.  They give sharing times and basically pretend to be me.
It's pretty cute and definitely something I want to remember.

Easton is starting kindergarden, so we did lots of reading games to get him ready.
I put a cheerio under one of the cups while he wasn't looking, then I called out a site word and he had to read the words on the cup to find the right one and he could eat it.

Site word hop scotch

Sounding out words with shaving cream

Site word car parking

Site word bingo

Sounding out words with magnets

Sling shot site words

Sounding out words with cookie cutters and sand

Site word SMASH

I put a smiley face on Easton's reading finger to help him remember to point to each word:)

Oaklyn did some learning games too like playing hopscotch with letter sounds:

One of Oaklie's favorite games was to play tooth fairy

I want to be him right now!

There was lots of baseball

Put me in coach
4th of July

Paxton's favorite part was the balloon

Fireworks by the lake

Free chick fillet if you dress like a cow.
The whole family got in on the action
Paxton had some udders:)
