I sing, "Oh What A Beautiful Morning" From the musical Oklahoma
at the TOP of my lungs most mornings to my kids.
Some times this happens as we are getting ready for school, and sometimes it happens in the car on the way to school, but it happens,
and I am NOT sure my kids love it.
They look at me like I have finally lost my mind:)
But the other day my kids turned it into a teaching moment.
Easton, I think to persuade me to stop singing said,
"Mom, it's NOT even a beautiful morning.
It's dark and cold outside."
He was right.
The morning looked like this:
(I pulled over to take this picture)
I thought about what he had said all day.
As I tucked my kids into bed that night I told them that it is easy to find beauty on warm sunny days when everything seems to be going well,
but the CHALLENGE of this life is to find FAITH and HOPE, when things seem bleak.
We know what lies ahead for us if we follow God's teachings and strive to be like our Savior,
and THAT is beautiful.
Until that perfect day, we can find beauty in the small and simple things, and in the ways we see God blessing, and guiding our lives.
That morning I could see BEAUTY in my children, and their ability to teach me.
