February Fun!

February was busy and fun!  My sister, moved to Detroit this fall and lives about three hours from me.  We haven't lived close to family in sooo long and it is definitely a tender mercy, especially with my parents moving to Brazil this summer.  I love her and think she just just the most amazing Mother!  Her daughter Jade is so lucky, and I think Jade is pretty amazing too.  Our girls are 3 weeks apart and we are BOTH scheduled to be induced on the 22nd of April with boys!  The crazy thing is that all 4 of my siblings are due within about a month of each other with BOYS!!!  It is going to be one fun and rowdy bunch.  I just can't wait!

Tiffany(my sister) came out to visit me for a week and we potty trained our girls together.  I have never done this with someone before, but would recommend it.  It is nice to have someone in the trenches with you, and definitely made it way more fun!  These girls got their ears pierced together at 3 months old, so the natural next step is to get potty train together, right?:)
Oaklyn making sure Jade had enough to snack on!

Oaklyn squealing with delight at her new princess underwear.  I have to admit, it was fun buying PRINCESS underwear.

My boys love Tiff and their cousin Jade too.  it made our dance parties more fun, because they each had a partner.

And then there is this one that always makes me smile.:)  Landon has some sweet moves!

Landon had his 100th day of school and his teacher had them dress up like they were 100.  He was a cute old man!

We took the kids to the zoo on a chilly winter day, but it ended up being really fun!  Dave bought a family year pass, so that we have somewhere to go and walk around after I have the baby while he is working long days.  I think it will be a good way to get out and walk a bit this summer. The kids absolutely adored the penguins and Landon told me he would like one for Christmas...We will have to see about that.:)

We have been doing family nights based on our family theme(4 family nights for each point).  We are finishing up "Make time for family" and talked to the kids about making time to serve each other to grow our love and unity as a family.  With Valentine's coming up, and because they like to play spies all the time, we decided it would be fun to give each of them secret service assignments.  They each got a top secret envelope with a top secret identity and disguise.  They also got a paper with the days of the week on it, and they sat down with a parent to plan the week, and what they would do each day to serve someone in our family without getting caught.  There were beds that made themselves, toys that got put away with out being asked, lots of sharing and random hugs and kisses.  I was a fun week!

We got our teeth cleaned!  Landon loved that they let him be a pretend dentist for the day, and watch his brother up close.
Easton loved chillin in the big chairs. Let just say they are pretty comfortable at the dentist's office and make themselves right at home.  They love going!

Landon took swim lessons.  I like doing this in the winter with my kids, because they need to get out and move and there are not a lot of places to go.  So swim lessons gives them something to look forward to.  I don't like to do it in the summer, because I would rather hang out at parks and play with friends.

Easton did indoor soccer and is really good.  He scored lots of goals and was fun to watch!

Oaklyn is getting so big, and I am trying to slow down time, or at least stop and notice the little things more.  Her little piggies are getting longer, and while it makes doing her hair a little easier, It also makes me painfully aware of the fact that she is not a baby anymore.  One day, while she was in the bath, I tried to document her little piggies while they are still LITTLE.  I couldn't get the pictures just how I wanted them, but I am glad I have these!
She is growing up so fast!

I also wanted to document her funny habit of breaking into prayer at random moments throughout the day.  She has a special prayer tone to her voice that makes me laugh and vaguely reminds me of the little girl in "Despicable Me 2" who recites the poem "My Mother".  Totally monotone and focused.  She will be playing with toys, or waiting to get her coat on, or sitting at the table.  Really anything can prompt random prayer from this girl.  She folds her little hands together, kneels, and says a sweet prayer.  I love how she teaches me!

On one of Dave's days off, he took an old desk that we were going to throw out and piled snow on top to make a sledding hill on our deck.  They went down on sleds and bellies.  I don't know if you can see it very well, but he kept a little opening, so the kids could crawl underneath, and it would double as a fort.  They were in heaven!

For valentine's Day, I did a "passport to Paris" theme for Dave and I.  The invitation was an old passport in which I explained our itinerary and stamped with a kiss.

Valentine's breakfast for the kids.  Colored yogurt with strawberries, and red smoothies. They each got Valentine socks and a light up heart ring from the dollar store.

French food, music, a youtube tour of Paris at night, and funny caricatures of each other with the kid’s easel.

Easton and Landon told me they didn't want girly Valentine's this year, so we may have gone a bit extreme....

Some of my cute Valentines:

My hardworking, helpful, cookie dough loving, amazing husband turned the big 3-0 this month. There is no one in the world I would rather spend time with. We did 30 balloons for turning 30. With memories from friends, family, and from the kids and I attached to each balloon. I have only known him for about 1/3 or his life, so it was fun to get stories flooding in from his family who have know him longer, and learn new things about him. I love this man and the memories we have made together!

Dollar store balloons:
Cookie dough cupcakes with cookie dough frosting.

February was fun!  Now onto two March birthdays and getting ready for this baby!  We are VERY open to name suggestions, since we have no idea what this little guy's name will be.:)  I can't wait to meet him and have a baby again.  There is just something about a home with a new baby.  Amid all the chaos and lack of sleep, there is a PEACE and a SWEETNESS that can be felt as soon as you enter.  I know that these babies are little angels sent from heaven!  I can feel that every time I hold one, heaven is very near.  We are feeling blessed by this gift and excited!
