Fun Summer Activities!

We have been continuing with our summer chores and fun schedule.  The boys make lunches, and breakfast if that is their chore for the day.  They clear and set the table, take out the garbages, help with dusting, and tons of other chores.  Landon is becoming quite good at vacuming.  I might be out of a job soon, but I am not complaining.:)

We get our chores done in the morning so we can have fun in the after noon.

Quite a while ago, after the 4th of July parade, I would hear the boys lining up their stuffed animals to be spectators for their parade.  They played that for a few days in a row, and so I finally got out some extra supplies out of my craft drawer and let them make their own FLOATS.  They had a ton of fun doing this with the neighbors, and had a parade route down the driveway, and even threw out candy.

For one of their "water Wednesdays", I used a yellow highlighter and let the ink from it run into the bath, and used a black light to create a "glow bath".  It looked really cool, but I couldn't get any picture to actually show what it looked like in real life.  The boys called it the spooky bath.  The water in the bath lit up JUST like a glow stick.  I just couldn't capture it with a camera.  Oh well...Maybe some of my photographer friends can tell me how to make the glow show up.

One of the "water Wednesdays" I put a bunch of sight words on cups for Landon, and letter sounds on cups for Easton.  I put two up at a time and called out a letter sound or sight word, and they got to shoot it off the deck.  They pretended the cups were bad guys.

It turned into a really fun water fight!

For one of our "make-it Mondays", I got an idea from my neighbor to put a couple drops of food coloring in sweetened condensed milk to finger paint with.  It was really glossy and fun for the boys to lick their fingers in between each color change.

We also did potato print painting for one of our "make-it Mondays".

One day the kids were "using the power of team work"(that's what they called it) to haul heavy logs out of our backyard forest to make a "deer trap".  They tried to lean them against our deck, and I said I would help them.  It ended up being a backyard teepee.

They had a fun time for the next few days playing in their teepee!

"Make-it Monday" fruit necklaces.  They used a needle and thread, but were really good with it.

The finished product.

This was doubled as an afternoon snack too!

"Water Wednesday" pool time.  The boys like to show off their muscles.

We made pet jelly fish with water bottles, and cut up grocery bags inside.  They boys named their pets Peanut Butter and Jelly.

Landon was pretty busy outside one afternoon, and kept coming in saying he was building a pool.  I thought maybe he was digging a small hole in the dirt and filling it with water.  When I came out to look, I saw how he had taken logs form our backyard woods to outline the shape of a pool complete with a diving board, and used our little blue pool as a "hot tub".  He and Easton enjoyed pretend swimming in it all afternoon.

The diving board.

Oaklyn continues to grow and is such a smiley, happy girl.  She is hard to take a picture of because she sleeps a lot.  But she loves doing whatever the boys are doing, dressing up, and especially wearing any shoes she can get her hands on(usually just one shoe).  This girl has a shoe fetish, and walks better than me in heels!  I love that she has her home depot construction apron on and heels.  She can do it all.  I like that she has two older brothers and loves cars, and super heros too.  Watch out world!

Love this girl so much!

I purchased a projector at a garage sale recently because I have always dreamed of having outdoor family movie nights.  I got the projector for super cheap, I think it was 15 or 20 dollars, and it works really well.  Again, the pictures do not do it justice, I am not sure how to make night pictures look more like they do in real life.  We watched our family movie night movie out side.  I want to have a drive-in-movie themed back-to-school party with card board box cars at our house soon.

It was fun snuggling outside together.  I love summer!
